About the owners:
My husband (Joe) and I had explored
the possibility of starting our own business for a
couple of years, but had not found one that really
sparked our interest. Our son (Riley) had just started
Kindergarten and we encountered the classic parent
dilemma of what activities to have him participate
in during the summer break. We came across the Bits,
Bytes & Bots Computer Adventures website and were
intrigued by their course offering. In particular
we were drawn to the Roaring into Robots class since
Riley loves Legos and robots. The only problem was
that all the Bits, Bytes & Bots locations were
in Colorado and we live in Austin, Texas! Out of the
corner of my eye, I saw the word “Franchises”
and that’s how our adventure began. I first
talked with Kyla Duffy and was very excited about
learning more about the company and what they offered
children. By chance, we happened to be in Colorado
for a ski trip 2 weeks later and had the opportunity
to meet with Kyla and Tom Marx. Tom’s passion
and enthusiasm for teaching technology to children
was immediately apparent.

What Bits, Bytes & Bots
offered to children was not readily available in Austin.
Joe and I quickly knew we wanted to bring this fun-filled,
educational adventure to Austin. With both Joe and I
working in the technology sector (Joe selling communications
products and Matilda doing strategic planning at AMD,
a semiconductor company), we know how important technology
is in today’s world. The prospect of teaching
technology skills to children and helping them to prepare
for the future is extremely appealing. Working with
children on important skills such as design conceptualization,
creative problem-solving and troubleshooting while using
technology tools in a fun environment is a fantastic
way to make an impact on children’s futures. So
within just a couple of weeks after meeting Tom, we
decided to move forward with opening a franchise.
We are very excited about Bits, Bytes &
Bots! The company’s philosophy, their curriculums,
the organization and their people are first class. We
are thrilled to be joining the Bits, Bytes & Bots
family and look forward to the chance to bring new educational
opportunities to children in Austin.
